Your trips, your way.
Want to give your trip a better name, save a backup copy, or clear out a trip you no longer need? You can do all of it from Trip Tools.
First, Find Trip Tools
Open your trip and look for the wrench icon in the trip drawer. That’s Trip Tools, where all of these options live.
Rename a Trip
Is your trip still called “New Trip”? Here’s how to give it a proper name:
- Open Trip Tools (the wrench icon).
- Select “Trip Settings.”
Find the Trip Name field and type your new name.
- Click "Save & Continue" to save your new name.
Tip: Pick a name that’s easy to find later, like “Florida Winter 2026” or “Yellowstone Loop.”
Copy a Trip
Copying a trip makes a duplicate, which is handy when you want to:
- Try a different route without changing your original plan
- Reuse a trip you loved as the starting point for a new one
- Keep a backup before you make big changes
How to copy:
- Open Trip Tools (the wrench icon).
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen to Trip Management.
- Click “Copy this Trip.”
- A Copy this Trip window pops up. Type a name for your copy, or keep the suggested one.
Click “Copy.”
Good to know: Trip Wizard suggests a name for you, which is your original trip name followed by “Copy 1.” For example, Camping around home - Copy 1. If you’ve already made copies, the number goes up (Copy 2, Copy 3, and so on), so no two copies end up with the same name.
Delete Multiple Stops
Need to remove a few stops? You can clear several at once instead of deleting them one by one.
- Open Trip Tools and scroll to Trip Management.
- Click “Delete Multiple Stops.”
Tick the box next to each stop you want to remove. To pick every stop, use Select All.
- Click “Delete Selected.” This button only appears after you’ve picked at least one stop.
A window asks you to confirm. Click “Delete” to remove the stops, or “Cancel” to go back.
Your starting location stays put. It doesn’t have a checkbox, so you can’t delete it from this screen. Every other stop can be selected.
Note: Day stops get selected too. If an overnight stop has day stops on that travel day, like a diner, a fuel stop, or a point of interest, they’re automatically selected along with it. You’ll see them marked “auto-selected.” Want to keep one? Untick its box before you click Delete Selected.
Delete an Entire Trip
- Open Trip Tools and scroll to Trip Management.
Click “Delete this Entire Trip.”
A window asks you to confirm. Click “Delete” to continue, or “Cancel” if you change your mind.
When the trip is deleted, you’ll be taken to your My Trips page.
Before you delete anything: Deleting stops or a whole trip is permanent and can’t be undone. If you’re not sure, use “Copy This Trip” first so you have a backup.
