How Do I Plan A New Trip?

Each time you log in to RV LIFE Trip Wizard, the Trip Drawer on the left will automatically open to the My Trips screen. From this screen, you can either open an existing trip or initiate the planning of a new trip by clicking on "Create New Trip."

Creating A New Trip:

  • Click on the red “Create New Trip” button.

  • Enter your trip name and select your departure day. Then, click on “Continue” at the bottom of the screen.
Note: You can’t have two trips with the same name.
  • You will then be asked to select a starting location:
  1. Use Current Location will select your current location. You will be asked to allow Location services permission. This will get the starting point close to your current location, but may not get it exact.
     
  2. Search for a Location will allow you to manually add a location through the search bar.
     
  3. Choose From Map will allow you to select a location from the app’s map.
Note: You can also set a city or a state as your starting point if you are unsure where to start. This can be edited later.

Here, we select North Central Carrollton, TX as our starting location using the search bar. Once the location appears on the list:

  • Click the add button  to open the "Add To Your Trip" screen.
     
  • Next, specify the number of nights you wish to stay at the starting location. Here, we keep the Number of Nights to 1.
  • Then, click "Add Starting Location."

  • Your map will then be updated to center the starting location.

This marks the beginning of your trip. 

Note: Once you’ve added a starting location, it cannot be edited or deleted. To use a different starting point, you’ll need to replace your current starting location with a new one.

Adding Your Next Stops

Say you want your next stop to be a park or a POI somewhere near your starting location but you haven’t decided exactly where. In this case, you can use the map to decide your next stop.

Make sure you have the two icons on the top right set to Show Parks and Show POIs by clicking on them.This will show you all the parks and POIs around your starting location.

  • To add a campground or POI, click the icon associated with your next stop. For example, here we clicked the Cedar Meadow RV Park icon to open its information popup.

  • To add this stop to your trip, click on “Add to Trip”.
  • Then, add the Number of Nights and click “Add Stop” just like the starting location to add the stop to your Trip Drawer.
  • You can keep adding stops this way till you reach closer to your intended destination.

TIP: You can also add Custom Stops that are not POIs or parks as a stop on your trip. 

Adding Your Next Stops through the Trip Drawer

Another method that members prefer using is adding stops through the trip drawer. This method is usually used when members have a clear plan of where they want to stop along the journey. To add your stops through the trip drawer:

  • Select a starting location through the search box (in this case, it’s North Central Carrollton, TX).
  • Then, click on “Add Stop” below the starting location and type in the destination. 
  • In this case, it’s Fort Kearny State Recreation Area. Once the name of the location comes up, click on the add button.
  • On the Add to Your Trip popup, you can add the Number of Nights you want to spend in the stop, lock your stop date if desired, and choose the stop placement. Click on “Add Stop” after.

  • This will give you a direct route from North Central Carrollton to Fort Kearny State Recreation Area.
  • To add more stops along your route, click on the “Add Stop” button at the bottom of the trip drawer.

Alternatively, you can first add your starting location followed by the final destination, and add stops in between.
