Travel Day Stops are stops you plan to make along your route without staying overnight, such as fuel stops, rest areas, restaurants, or other places you want to visit during a travel day.
In RV LIFE Trip Wizard, a stop with zero (0) nights is considered a Travel Day Stop.
There are two ways to add a Travel Day Stop: you can search for a location or select a point of interest directly from the map.
Adding a Travel Day Stop from the Map
If a fuel station or other point of interest you want to visit is already displayed on the map, you can add it directly from the map.
- Click the point of interest icon on the map.
- Click Add to Trip.
- In the Add to Trip panel, use Add This Stop After to select the stop after which you want the Travel Day Stop to appear.
- Keep the number of nights set to 0.
- Add a note, if desired.
- Click Add Stop to add the Travel Day Stop to your trip.
The Travel Day Stop will be added to the selected travel day between your overnight stops.
Adding a Travel Day Stop Using Search
Use Search when you know the name or address of the place you want to add as a Travel Day Stop.
In this example, your trip includes overnight stops at Palisades RV Park and Raton KOA Journey, and you want to stop at the Albuquerque Museum while traveling between them.
- Click the + (plus) icon between the two stops in your Trip Itinerary.
- Search for Albuquerque Museum and select the location you want to add.
- Click on the Add Stop icon.
- In the Add a Custom Stop panel, set the number of nights to zero (0) to designate it as a travel day stop. The default value is one (1), but the stop will not be recognized as a travel day unless it is set to zero.
- The Add This Stop After field will automatically show the stop you selected the + (plus) icon beneath. In this example, that is Palisades RV Park.
- Add a note, if desired.
- Click Add Stop to save the Travel Day Stop.
Your Travel Day Stop is now included between the two overnight stops in your Trip Itinerary.
Viewing Your Travel Day Stops
The Trip Itinerary view filter lets you choose between All Stops and Overnights Only.
To view both Overnight Stops and Travel Day Stops within your Trip Itinerary, use the Trip Itinerary view filter and select All Stops.
For a simplified view of your trip, select Overnights Only to display only your overnight destinations. This can make longer trips easier to review without displaying every fuel stop, rest stop, or other Travel Day Stop in the Trip Itinerary.
Even when Overnights Only is selected, you can still see which overnight stops have Travel Day Stops. Between each pair of overnight stops, the distance and estimated travel time are displayed in a bubble. If Travel Day Stops are planned for that portion of your trip, the bubble also shows the number of stops, such as 1 Stop or 2 Stops.
Accessing Travel Day Details
RV LIFE Trip Wizard provides detailed information about each travel day, including your route, Travel Day Stops, driving time, distance, turn-by-turn directions, and elevation information.
How you open Travel Day Details depends on which Trip Itinerary view you are using:
- In All Stops view, click a Travel Day Stop in your Trip Itinerary to open Travel Day Details.
- In Overnights Only view, click the 1 Stop (or 2 Stops, etc.) bubble between the overnight stops to open Travel Day Details.
The Travel Day Details panel displays the complete travel day from your departure location to your next overnight stop. Any Travel Day Stops are shown along the route, along with the distance and estimated travel time between each stop.
From here you can:
- View the total mileage and estimated travel time for the travel day.
- Click the + (plus) icon to add another stop along the route.
- Select See Turn-by-Turn Details for the Day to view detailed driving directions.
- Review Travel Day Elevation, including total elevation gain and loss and the elevation profile for the route.
- Click a stop to open Edit Stop Details, where you can update the stop's information, fuel, expenses, or notes.
- Select Delete Stop from Edit Stop Details if you want to remove the stop.
- Select Save to apply any changes made.
