Exporting Trips to Calendar

RV LIFE Trip Wizard grants users the added benefit of exporting trips to their calendars to avoid overlapping events and scheduling mishaps. 

Calendars can be exported to your Mac Calendar, your iPhone/iPad, Android devices, and also Google Calendar.

NOTE: Make sure you have popups enabled before you export your calendar.

How To Export Trip To Calendar

To begin exporting your calendar:

  • Click the wrench icon at the top of the Trip Drawer and select Export Trip. This is the wrench icon-
  • On the Export Trip Options menu, select “Calendar Export”.
  • You will then be presented with two options- “Copy Link” and “Download .ICS File”. The “Copy Link” option will allow you to copy the calendar URL and the “Download .ICS File” option will allow you to download the calendar file manually and import it into your preferred calendar yourself.

 

TIP: The URL method updates calendars automatically with calendar changes in Trip Wizard . Manual file imports will need outdated itineraries deleted and the download process repeated. However, URL updates may take a few days, so it's not ideal for urgent updates.

Exporting Your Trip Calendar to Your Mac:

  1. “Copy Link” Method

To begin, click on the “Copy Link” button we saw earlier.

  • After the link is copied, open the Calendar app on your Mac.
  • From the File menu, select “New Calendar Subscription” and paste the copied URL in the popup and click “Subscribe”.

  • On the Calendar Info menu, add the calendar Name and select any make any necessary changes. Then click OK.

  • Your trip will then appear in your calendar as shown:

  1. “Download .ICS File” Method

To begin, select “Download .ICS File” from the menu we saw earlier. The .ics file should begin downloading immediately, or you might be asked to confirm the download according to your device’s settings.

NOTE: The .ics file name will be the name of the trip you have set in Trip Wizard. For example- “ExportCalendarTrip.ics”.
  • Open your Calendar app and select “Import” from the File menu.
  • Find the .ics file from your Downloads folder and open it. You will then see this popup:

  • Choose whether you'd like your trip to appear in an existing calendar, or create a new one and select OK. If you choose to create a New Calendar, the calendar will use the name of your trip as the name of your new calendar. 
  • Your calendar will then be imported.
Tip: To adjust the timing of your trips, switch to Weekly view on the calendar and drag the event to a specific time slot. 

Exporting Your Calendar To Your Mobile Device

  • Log in to RV LIFE Trip Wizard using your phone’s browser.
  • Open your desired trip and tap the wrench icon in the Trip Drawer and select Export Trip.
  • Tap “Download .ICS File”. You will then see the following popup:

  • Select “Continue”. Then, your trip itinerary will appear. Choose “Add All”. 

  • Then, select the calendar you want to add the trip to, or create a New Calendar. Then, tap Done.
  • You can then view your trip Calendar on your iPhone’s calendar. The view below is a horizontal view of the calendar.
NOTE: Exporting trips on an android device also follows the same steps. However, some views might be different. 

Exporting Your Trip to Google Calendar

  • Download the .ics file by clicking on the “Download .ICS File” under Export Trips as shown in the above examples.
  • Then, open Google Calendar and click on the + icon next to Other Calendars. Then, select “Import”.
  • This will open the settings menu. Upload your .ics file and then click Import.

  • Google Calendar will then import your trip schedule. It will look like this on Google Calendar:
