As you can see there are a number of different options to choose from.

  1. Map Style -- Choose from Street Map (the default option), Night (Dark), Terrain and Satellite.

  2. Driving Radius -- Toggle your driving radius on/off. For more information on how the driving radius works and why it's important visit the Driving Radius page.

  3. Show Campgrounds -- Choose to show campgrounds displayed on the map. This is helpful in the event you are looking for a stop close to a particular Point of Interest or landmark.

  4. Show POIs -- Toggling this on will show the Points of Interest you have selected using the Research tab (Points of Interest must be selected to display on map).

  5. Enable Filters -- Toggling this on will show the Filters you have selected within the Parks section of the Research tab (Filters must be selected to display on map).

  6. Show Low Clearances -- This will display any low clearances on or near your route, such as bridges or underpasses. You may have to zoom in on the map to view. Keep in mind, road conditions are constantly changing so always maintain awareness when driving.

  7. National Parks -- This is currently a beta version, however this submenu allows you to view National Parks, National Historic Sites, National Historic Parks and National Monuments.

  8. Weather Layers -- Select this submenu to view current weather, windspeeds and any areas that may be currently experiencing wildfires.

  9. Time zones -- Toggling Time zones on/off will enable you to see time zones in North America so that you can plan accordingly.

Once you have selected your map settings, you'll notice the number of settings you have selected will appear in the Map Settings button. To remove Map Settings, simply click/tap the Map Setting button and toggle them off individually.

Display Wildfire Layer

Under Map Settings, there is an option for turning on the Wildfire Layer. To reach it, first open Map Settings and navigate to Weather Layers. You can see the option near the bottom with an icon of a sun and cloud.

Once turned on, icons with a fire in the center will appear on the map in every area we have current data on wildfires. If you click on one of those icons, a popup such as the one pictured below will appear.

Depending on the information we have available, the popup will give you: the fire's name, the containment percentage, the number of acres burned, when the fire was first reported, and when the last update came through.

These fire warnings are meant to give you an idea of what hazards might exist during your trip, but you should always contact local authorities to make sure you have the newest information if it appears a fire may pose a threat to your intended route.
